POLICE are appealing for help after a cheeky – but costly – shoplifting incident in Fordingbridge saw suspects stop for a snack before making off with stolen goods.
Officers say two women entered the Co-op on Thursday, April 16, between 3.50pm and 3.55pm.
During the incident, it is reported the pair helped themselves to two ice creams – eating them in store without paying – before going on to steal around £60 worth of cleaning products.
Now, police have released images of two women they believe could help with their investigation and are urging them, or anyone who recognises them, to come forward.
The unusual sequence of events, from enjoying ice creams to leaving with stolen goods, has raised eyebrows locally, but officers are treating the matter seriously.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or noticed anything suspicious in the area at the time is also being asked to get in touch.
Police said information can be reported by calling 101 or via the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary website, quoting incident number 44260180759.
Alternatively, people can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or through its website.
Enquiries are ongoing.
