Fisherton Mill becomes creative hub for Salisbury Art Trail

A BURST of colour, creativity and craftsmanship is set to take over one of Salisbury’s most popular arts venues as the city’s annual art trail returns.

From Saturday, May 23 to Sunday, June 7, Fisherton Mill will become a major hub for the Salisbury Art Trail, showcasing the work of dozens of local artists and makers from across the region.

The first-floor display space will host work from 14 artists and makers as part of Salisbury’s visual arts network, Plain Arts Salisbury.

Among them are the venue’s own resident studio artists, giving visitors a chance to see where creativity is happening on-site as well as across the city.

Alongside this, the Main Gallery will feature “Brush, Kiln & Camera”, a group exhibition from the Nova Art Guild.

The show brings together ceramics, painting, glasswork and photography from artists including Fiona Charter, Tamsyn Gregory, Lindsay Keir, Scarlet Leatham, Geraldine McLoughlin and David Walker.

It runs from Thursday, May 21 to Saturday, June 20.

Visitors will not just be able to view the work – many of the artists will be on site throughout the art trail, offering a rare chance to meet the makers behind the pieces, hear their stories and discuss their techniques.

Owner of Fisherton Mill Deborah Fox said she is looking forward to welcoming visitors: “As the biggest venue on the art trail we have lots of brilliant artwork for our visitors to take in and an award-winning cafe with sunny courtyard seating for that all important pitstop!”

The Salisbury Art Trail Guide is available online and in venues across the city, with admission to all exhibitions free.
