A SMALL village school near Salisbury is celebrating a major milestone after a glowing Ofsted report recognised its “significant journey of improvement”.
Coombe Bissett C of E Primary School has been judged to meet the expected standard in all areas, with inspectors also highlighting a particularly strong Early Years provision.
The report paints a picture of a thriving school community, where pupils are “enthusiastic learners” who read confidently, think deeply and enjoy coming to school.
Inspectors also praised behaviour, noting strong relationships between staff and pupils, and a culture of kindness, respect and pride.
Central to the school’s success is its inclusive ethos and high expectations, alongside a curriculum designed to engage and challenge children while ensuring they feel supported.
Early Years stood out as a key strength. Inspectors described it as “a hive of busy and exciting learning,” where children show high levels of curiosity, creativity and independence.
Pupils were found to be making strong progress and leaving Reception well prepared for the next stage of their education.
Headteacher Emma Haworth said: “I am exceptionally proud of our children and staff and feel truly honoured to lead such an amazing team.
“This inspection was carried out under a new, rigorous Ofsted framework, and we are delighted that the report truly captures the heart and essence of our school.
“It reflects the care, ambition and dedication that make our school such a special place to learn and grow.”
The positive report marks a significant moment for the school, reflecting years of hard work from staff, pupils and the wider community.
For parents and families, it offers reassurance that the school is not only meeting national standards, but creating an environment where children feel safe, valued and inspired to succeed.
Leaders say the focus now is on building on this success – ensuring every child continues to flourish in what inspectors have recognised as a caring and ambitious setting.
