A GIFT of floral delights brightened the day for residents at a Ferndown care home.

Joy and smiles were the order of the day at The Kings Park Care Home thanks to a gift of flowers from the town branch of Sainsbury’s.

After being contacted by the store, staff were surprised to find their gift when they went to collect it.

Admin manager at Kings Park, Jacqui Churchill, said: “When I arrived at Sainsbury’s, I expected two or three bunches of flowers, but to my amazement there were two trollies filled with some incredible flowers, which they were unable to now sell as they were a day over their sale date, yet still in beautiful condition.

“It was an amazing sight and my car was filled to the brim.

“When I arrived back, both residents and staff were in awe of what I had brought back with me and quickly made preparations as to what they could do with them all.”

Kings Park’s activities lead, Claudia Canosa, said the flowers came in useful ahead of the Halloween season.

“They could not have come at a more perfect time,” she said. “I was thinking about doing some pumpkin crafts with the residents, so the flowers were a perfect addition to my plans.

“I was able to facilitate several flower arranging sessions in the home for everyone to enjoy, and they most certainly did. Everyone got involved in creating some beautiful arrangements, which we displayed throughout the home and they look really stunning, especially on our reception as they welcome friends and family into the home.”

And general manager, Sebastian Ouseph, said: “We are so, so grateful to our lovely friends at Sainsbury’s. What an amazing gift they have given us and the flowers look beautiful in their pumpkin vases.

“Thank you Sainsbury’s Ferndown for making our residents smile.”
