PEOPLE in Salisbury are being urged to have their say on the future of travel in the city with a key public event taking place tomorrow.
Wiltshire Council is holding a drop-in session at Salisbury City Hall, giving residents, businesses and visitors the chance to find out more about plans that could shape how people move around the city for years to come.
The council is currently updating its Salisbury Transport Strategy, last refreshed in 2018.
Since then, travel habits have changed significantly – particularly due to the pandemic – while new policies and priorities around walking, cycling and reducing carbon emissions have also emerged.
The updated strategy will look at a wide range of everyday issues affecting people in Salisbury, including congestion, road safety, public transport and how easy it is to get around on foot or by bike.
It will also explore potential improvements such as upgraded junctions, better bus services, enhanced Park & Ride options and safer, more accessible streets.
Tomorrow’s event will run from 12pm to 8pm and is open to anyone who lives, works in or regularly visits Salisbury.
Attendees will be able to view the proposals, ask questions and speak directly with members of the project team.
Importantly, the feedback gathered will help shape the final strategy, meaning community voices could directly influence future investment in the city’s transport network.
Cabinet member for highways Cllr Martin Smith said: “Updating the Salisbury Transport Strategy is an important step to make sure the city’s transport network works for everyone.
“This drop-in event is a chance for people to find out more about the proposals and talk to us about the challenges and opportunities they see in Salisbury’s transport system.
“Whether you live, work or visit the city, your views will help us plan for a safer, greener and better-connected future.”
A wider public consultation is expected to launch at the end of May, giving people further opportunities to have their say.

Just checking – the info says ‘tomorrow’. Does that mean Tuesday 21st?
