SALISBURY’S creative scene is set for a major boost this year with nearly £23,000 handed out to support a wide range of arts projects across the city.
Salisbury Culture has awarded £22,897 to 16 groups through its Small Grants Programme, backing everything from theatre and music to photography, dance and visual arts.
The funding aims to bring more cultural experiences into everyday spaces, with events planned in schools, parks and community venues.

Organisers say the focus is on opening up the arts to more people, especially those who might not usually take part.
Among the successful projects is work by The Moon and Water Theatre Company, which will explore local folklore through performance.

Christian Emmerson, co-director of The Moon and Water Theatre Company, said: “We are passionate about bringing traditional stories back to the heart of our communities.
“Storytelling has an extraordinary way of bringing people together. Through this support, we aim to provide an inclusive interactive performance that celebrates Wiltshire’s rich folk history.”

Photographer Sam Ivin will run workshops with young carers in the city.
He said: “I’m excited to be working with Youth Action Wiltshire Young Carers Service to facilitate a series of creative photography workshops with young carers in Salisbury.
“The goal is for participants to learn photography skills, create unique artwork and have fun. We hope to display the young carers’ final images later this year. Thank you for the support.”
Meanwhile, Rosie Townsend-Jones will deliver her “Double Denim” creative workshops.
She said: “I am delighted that the panel has chosen to support the workshops and really grateful that they could see the vision behind my project. This support makes a real difference to my small creative business and its future.”
The programme is part of a wider plan to strengthen Salisbury’s cultural life ahead of 2027, when the city marks 800 years since its historic charter.
More details about the funded projects will be released throughout the year.
