FROM city trips to countryside escapes, Wiltshire residents are being urged to swap the car for the bus this spring with fares capped at just £3.
The scheme, which limits the cost of a single journey, is opening up cheaper travel across the county, making it easier to get to work, visit friends or explore new places without breaking the bank.
Some shorter journeys cost even less.
With longer days and warmer weather on the way, council leaders say now is the perfect time to take advantage of the offer and rediscover Wiltshire’s towns, villages and beauty spots.
Cabinet member for highways, streetscene and flooding Cllr Martin Smith said: “Spring is a wonderful time to get out and enjoy everything Wiltshire has to offer, and the £3 bus fare cap makes it easier and more affordable than ever.
“Whether you’re heading to work, popping into town, visiting family or exploring our beautiful countryside. I’d encourage everyone to hop on board and see where £3 can take you.”
The push comes as investment in Wiltshire’s bus network continues, with funding from the Department for Transport helping to maintain improved services introduced last year.
Plans are also in place to upgrade bus stops and shelters across the county.
For many residents, the capped fares offer a cheaper and more sustainable alternative to driving – particularly as fuel and parking costs remain high.
Whether it’s a day out, a commute or a spontaneous trip somewhere new, the message is clear: leave the car behind and see where the bus can take you.
