POLICE have taken decisive action to shut down a troubled Amesbury address linked to crime, anti-social behaviour and concerns for a vulnerable resident.
Officers secured a three-month Partial Closure Order at Sandell Place after appearing at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court on Monday, following months of investigation and intelligence gathering.
The order, supported by Stonewater Housing Association, will remain in place until July 27, with the option to extend it for a further three months if needed.
Police say the action was taken due to serious concerns including exploitation, “cuckooing” – where criminals take over a person’s home – ongoing drug use and persistent anti-social behaviour at the property.
Strict conditions are now in force, meaning only a small number of named individuals, emergency services and authorised housing staff are allowed to enter.
Officers returned to the address later the same day to enforce the order, ensuring the tenant was safeguarded and given support.
Regular, unannounced checks will now be carried out over the coming months.
Anyone breaching the order risks arrest, with potential penalties including imprisonment or a fine.
Wiltshire Police are urging the public to report any suspected breaches immediately by calling 999 and quoting reference number 54260047888.
The move is part of ongoing efforts to tackle crime and protect vulnerable people in the community, with officers working alongside partner agencies to address long-standing issues at the address.
Residents nearby have been made aware of the order, with notices displayed on the property and communal areas.
Police say they will continue to monitor the situation closely.
